Biotechnology Advocacy and Dialogue

Sustaining Canada's biotech industry to allow Canada to realize its benefits requires integrated public policy at all levels of government. BIOTECanada and its membership dedicate themselves to informing Canadian decision-makers of the value and potential the industry offers.

Working in partnership with regional organisations and partners, BIOTECanada leads an ongoing dialogue between the various groups our technology affects to create science-based policy and better awareness of biotechnology.

The Bio-based economy: Next generation driver of Canada’s growth

National Priorities

BIOTECanada is working with Canadian decision-makers to build a biotechnology sector benefiting Canadians today and in the future. We encourage governments to:

  • Maintain a science-based regulatory regime that will enable discovery, commercialization and market introduction of biotechnology products and processes.
  • Ensure adequate IP protection for Canadian innovators.
  • Facilitate access to capital for emerging firms.
