Description: Immunovaccine Inc. applies its novel adjuvanting platform, DepoVaxTM, to the development of vaccines for cancer therapy, infectious diseases and animal health. The Company’s platform technology is a formulation that provides controlled and prolonged exposure of antigens plus adjuvant to the immune system. The DepoVax platform is a combination of antigens, immune enhancers formulated in liposomes, and then in oil. This patented combination raises unusually strong and long lasting cellular and/or humoral immune responses, which allow the company to create effective, single dose vaccines. Immunovaccine has advanced two DepoVax-based cancer vaccines into Phase I human clinical trials. The Company is also advancing a broad infectious disease pipeline including vaccines in such indications as malaria, respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) and anthrax. In addition to the Company’s human health vaccine strategy, it continues to capture value from animal health vaccine applications. Immunovaccine has key partnerships in the animal health sector including an agreement with Pfizer Animal Health.

Description: IRICoR is the commercialization arm of the Institute for Research in Immunology and Cancer (IRIC) at Université de Montreal (UdM). Their mission is to accelerate the translation of commercially-relevant IRIC research into therapeutic drug candidates in oncology, immunovirology and related therapeutic fields. Founded in 2003, scientists at IRIC have developed a unique collection of technological platforms and gathered the expertise that has allowed for the establishment of an integrated discovery unit that encompasses target identification, preclinical proof of principle, and early clinical studies. IRICoR’s principal mandate is to create value for highly innovative projects developed by IRIC/UdeM and their partners by commercializing the most advanced projects in its pipeline. To do this, IRICoR strategically supports and invests in selected projects to rapidly transition them from the academic environment to the market, while ensuring the identification of the best partners for development and financing. IRIC also has developed an impressive array of technology platforms, including genomics (full genome sequencing and analysis), shRNA HTS (genome wide), high throughput histopathology (resident pathologist, tissue array), cytology and tissue banks (resident cytogeneticist), FACS (HTS capacity), proteomics (quantitative mass spectrometry), bioimaging, bioinformatics, identification and optimization of chemical tools/leads, Medicinal Chemistry, PK-ADME (in vitro and in vivo), biophysics (NMR), and target validation. As well, IRIC is home to one of Canada’s largest animal facility and includes transgenesis capabilities. IRICoR has developed a portfolio of highly innovative projects in these fields which are mainly at the stage of lead identification and optimization. They are seeking partners who would be interested in accessing their project portfolio via licensing or collaborative research agreements (or other approaches) for further development. Examples of the projects currently funded by IRICoR include inhibitors of Polo kinase, modifiers of estrogen signalling, biosensors for the real-time monitoring of receptor-mediated G protein activation, and regulators of hepatic cancer stem cells.
