| Description: | SinoVeda Canada Inc. is a private company founded by two pharmaceutical scientists in 2006. The company is built on the understanding that a disease is a complicated process that can only be treated with products that take aim at multiple therapeutic targets. The vision of the Company is to make highly safe and efficacious pharmaceuticals from active botanicals by using pharmaceutical technology to develop drugs derived from botanical medicines using a multiple ingredient and multiple target approach. SinoVeda’s patent pending technology, PPT®, is an in vitro and in silico physiological PK/PD model which is used for screening active moieties in a complex mixture, similar to that of a medicinal herb. This technology is proven and operational; it has been used successfully to develop a pipeline of products, which are going into clinical trials in 2012/2013 and are anticipated be launched in the global market by 2013. The pharmaceutical industry is actively seeking for a new paradigm to enrich its rapidly dwindling pipeline of new products. Using current approaches to R & D, industry experience is that 5 out of 10,000 compounds make it to the clinical phase and only one out of these 5 candidates will make it to the market. SinoVeda’s strategy and patent pending technology improves these odds significantly. The Company focuses on botanicals with proven therapeutic results and utilizes its technology to identify and standardize pharmaceutical grade combinations of the specific bio active ingredients within those botanicals that generate these results. These combinations can then be made into pharmaceuticals synthetically. While the core structures of over 60% of pharmaceuticals are derived from botanicals, there is a fundamental flaw in current drug development strategies from botanicals which stems from the failure to recognize that a disease condition is usually associated with multiple conditions and thus requires multiple compounds for proper treatment. At SinoVeda,PPT (R) allows us to identify the active ingredients of clinically effective botanicals and improves our understanding of the mechanisms of action of these ingredients, thus eliminating the current shortcomings of botanical medicines. |

| Description: | Sirius Genomics is a private biotechnology company, based in Vancouver, British Columbia that develops companion diagnostics (CDx) for acute medical conditions. Sirius' focus is on developing companion diagnostics for therapeutics leading to better patient outcomes through personalized medicine. Currently, therapeutics follow a one-size-fits-all pattern. However, the inherent genetic differences between individuals can lead to low efficacy or adverse side effects for a drug, thereby limiting its clinical utility. Sirius addresses this problem by developing companion diagnostics which identify patient populations that will benefit the most from pharmaceutical therapeutics. This will enable patients to get the right medication, doctors to more effectively treat the critically ill, and drug companies to fully realize the market potential for their therapeutics. By correlating patient genetics and other markers with clinical outcomes, Sirius’ CDx products aim to enable more effective drug treatment. |
